The Rest of the Story

The family photo.

How often have you entered someone's home and the first thing that you saw was their family portrait?

Seems like lately I've gotten alot of jobs taking family photos.

While a traditional photo like the one below does depict a nice clean cut family, we have seen thousands of them. There is nothing original about it, and it says nothing about the family.

With that being said, I had no idea that on a recent photo shoot I had captured a "real" family photo.

You see, as the gorgeous mom sat beautifully posed while I took her photo... she was completely unaware the kids were duking it out in the background.

Is the picture awkward... yes.

Do people stop and do a double take when they see it... yes.

Is the picture a conversation piece... yes.

Is the picture a true family photo that depicts life with two teenage kids... definately.

Is it the families favorite family photo of all time... probably not.

But I will say, that is one of MY all time favorite photos. I think the picture really tells the "Rest of the Story."

Getting His Groove On

If you asked Bryant what one of the best things about his mom being a teacher is... he'd say

"I get to go to the school dances!"

One of the perks of me being the Student Council Advisor is that Bryant gets to come along to the dances that myself and the Student Council Plan for the student body.

It's actually become a family affair. My mom and sister came to the last school dance too!

This dance's theme was Spring Fling- Heading into Summer

Well this post really isn't about the middle school dance, it's about Bryant.

He's become somewhat notorious at the dances.

The girls love him.

The boys all want to hang with him because "he's a chick magnet."

As you can see in the picture below, Bryant's not that much smaller than a short 6th grader.

This has caused many middle school girls to freak out when they find out they've just danced with a 2nd grader!

One 7th grader girl even asked for his phone number.

Oy Vey!

One of the things that I like best about him going to the dances with me

is that Bryant has learned to be self-confident and dance.

He loves to GET HIS GROOVE ON!

Below you'll see a picture of him in the middle of a circle doing his Michael Jackson dance moves.

My boy has got the moves.

And one day the ladies will thank me for teaching him how to be the life of the party at his own school dances!

(* Note: Faces of students whom I don't have photo releases for have been blacked out)

Waiting for Summer

Where is that darn sun? It showed up for one day... and then left quickly with rain trailing behind.

Bryant's been waiting for summer. His swimsuit is on... his towel is ready. With only a week left of school he is antsy for summer.

Until then, I guess he'll continue to "practice" laying in the sun...

I'm back....

It's been a long time.

I've often looked at my blog and remembered what life was like when I had time to blog.

Since then I've been B.U.S.Y!

Yesterday everything changed though... I graduated with Highest Honors with

My Master's Degree in Education!

Hip Hip Horray!

Although I am smart and self motivated,

I couldn't have made it through the last two years with two of the most wonderful friends a girl could have... Deb and Jeanette.

At one point we were spending more time with each other than we were with our own families.

So, I'm now on to a new phase of life... a life that will hopefully include blogging again.

Let me know if you're still around and looking at the blog. If not, I'll have to track you down and let you know... I'm back!
