His heart pounds as a crane pulls him in the air by a bungee cord. His toes are hanging out over a drop the size of a fifteen story building. Almost mesmerized by the dizzying height, he hears the spectators begin to chant the countdown.
FIVE... "OK, here he goes, this is it"
FOUR... "He summons up more courage than ever"
THREE... "He commits to making the plunge it's too late to turn back"
TWO... "He crouches down, ready to jump into oblivion"
ONE... "He feels more alive and aware than ever before"
BUNGEE!!!!
A huge rush of adrenaline courses through his body. The intensity of the thrill! He is flying towards the ground when all of a sudden a surprisingly gentle pull from the bungee cord starts to slow him down. His chest and waist harness cradle him in a comfortable seated position, as the cord almost quadruples in length, then he goes rocketing back up in the air. After a few more rebounds up and down, he gradually slows down until he come to a brief stop, just above the surface of the ground.
This is the real deal, bungee the way it was meant to be done. He walks over to me (who's almost hyperventilating from the ordeal) and says, "When can I do it again, Mom." I think to myself, "I'm 34 and there's no way in hell I'm bungee jumping... and he's only 4 and wanting to do it again." I'm telling you... this kid is an Adrenalin junkie!
So, after this latest adventure, I've decided this is Bryant's Mission Statement in Life:
"Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "...holy shit...what a ride!"
